Fees
Fees
The school fee is intended to be inclusive, with almost all extras incurred voluntarily (see below for exceptions). The fee structure allows day pupils to enjoy many of the benefits of the boarding environment at no additional cost, including breakfast, lunch, tea, supervised prep and most activities.
For the academic year 2010/11 the fees for each term are:
Fryer pupils (Years 7 and 8):
-
Day pupil £4,904
-
Weekly boarder £6,587
-
Full boarder £7,491
Senior pupils (Years 9 to Upper Sixth):
-
Day pupil £5,776
-
Weekly boarder £7,740
-
Full boarder £8,810
NB: the day pupil fees include lunch (and other meals if required).
-
Flexi-boarding (occasional or regular overnight stays) is generally available by prior arrangement with Housemasters and is charged at £36.30 per night for Years 7 and 8, and £42.60 per night for Years 9 to Upper Sixth.
-
Music tuition for 2010/11 is charged at £21.85 for a 30 minute individual lesson.
-
Tuition in the Individual Learning Centre will be discussed and agreed with parents. An additional charge is due for these lessons. This varies depending on the length of the lesson and whether individual or group tuition is required.
-
Occasionally pupils for whom English is an additional language require individual support in addition to the group lessons which are part of the curriculum. Individual lessons will be charged as an extra. Pupils' needs will be discussed and agreed with parents.
-
Fees are payable termly in advance, together with the cost of personal extras for the previous term. Full fees are payable during absence. Appropriate insurance is arranged by the school to cover such eventualities (1% of the fees payable), the premium for which is charged to a pupil’s bill. Parents may opt out of this arrangement and should notify the bursary accordingly.
Sibling Discount
A discount of 10% is available for second and subsequent children of a family attending Leighton Park at the same time.
Registration Fee
A non-refundable fee of £100 for EU or £150 for Non-EU must accompany all registration forms when applying for entry.
Acceptance Deposit
-
EU nationals: A deposit of £600 is payable to secure a place. This will be credited to the final account of those entering the school. It will not normally be refunded if an application is withdrawn prior to a place being taken up.
-
Non EU nationals: A deposit equivalent to 50% of annual fees is required. The first £600 is payable on acceptance of a place; the remaining balance of the deposit is due two weeks prior to the start of the term of entry. If a place is accepted less than two weeks prior to the start of term of entry, the full deposit is due. Please note: a full term's fees will be payable on or before the first day of term in addition to the acceptance deposit. All deposits include a £100 subscription for lifetime membership of the 'Old Leightonians' and this element will be retained by the school when pupils leave. The balance of deposits is fully refunded and shown as a credit on the final leaver's bill.
Items not included in the fees
-
Additional tuition in the Individual Learning Centre, or in the English as an Additional Language department (see notes above). Pupils’ needs are discussed and agreed with parents.
-
Individual music tuition.
-
Public examination fees.
-
Most Sixth Form subjects will require students to purchase their own books at the beginning of, or during, the course.
-
Study of languages in addition to those included in the curriculum.
-
Other extras may be incurred. Most will be incurred voluntarily (e.g. trips, some activities or sports requiring specialist instructors, school fees insurance) but occasionally other miscellaneous expenses occur which may be added to a pupil’s bill.
Please ask for a copy of the school’s Standard Terms and Conditions for further details about fees and deposits.

Additional notes
-
A full term’s notice is required for:
-
The withdrawal of a pupil: this must be given in writing to the Head, otherwise a term’s fees in lieu of notice will be due.
-
A change from boarding to day status, otherwise the full boarding fee will be charged for the remainder of the term.
-
Half a term's notice is required in writing to the Director of Music for withdrawal from individual music tuition.
-
The current rate of interest charged under paragraph 4e) of the Standard Terms and Conditions for late payment is 1% per month.
-
Towards the end of the Spring term each year the Board of Governors sets the level of fees for the following academic year. Parents are given a full term’s notice of the fees for the forthcoming year. All school income goes towards the provision of educational facilities.
The level of fees need not be a deterrent to your child joining Leighton Park. A limited number of scholarships and bursaries are available to help parents in certain circumstances.
