Scholarships

A number of Academic, Music, Sports and Art & Design Scholarships may be awarded at the following levels, on the basis of a competitive examination:

  • Junior (effective from the beginning of Year 7)

  • Senior (effective from the beginning of Year 9)

  • Sixth Form (effective from the beginning of the Lower Sixth)

  • These scholarships are open to those already in school, as well as new applicants at these year groups.

Pupils may apply for any combination of Academic, Music or Art and Design scholarships, or a sports award but can only receive the financial benefits of one.  The financial benefit will be in the region of 10% of day boarder fees.

A David Lean Award may be awarded from time to time to exceptionally talented pupils.  No separate application is necessary but performance in scholarship exams may be taken into account.

Pupils holding scholarships may also be entitled to financial assistance.

Tenure

Scholarships normally last throughout the pupil’s time at Leighton Park, but are subject to a satisfactory review of progress each March.  No pupil may hold more than one award.

Index Linking

All awards will be maintained at the relevant proportion of fees throughout a pupil’s time at Leighton Park.
