"Children clearly enjoy their time at this friendly and welcoming holiday scheme"
Ofsted Oct 2011
Why Ofsted inspection reports are essential for parents
We know you want the best for your child and that when it comes to choosing childcare or a school it is important to have as much information as possible. That's where Ofsted come in. Ofsted inspection reports present a comprehensive and impartial picture and are published here and on the Ofsted website. Ofsted inspects all state funded and some independent schools, as well as colleges and teacher training, childminders and day-care centres. Ofsted also are the lead inspectorate for reviews of key services for children and young people in each local authority area.
Inspection is a process of gathering evidence and coming to judgements in order to provide a written assessment of how well a school, for example, is performing. It is a legal requirement for all registered childcare providers, schools and colleges to be inspected.
For most childcare providers and state funded schools, inspections take place about every three years and last up to two days. Little or no advance notice is given, so Ofsted can see the setting as they really are.
