Academic approach

The curriculum at Leighton Park is designed to provide a broad and balanced education, in which pupils are challenged to reach the highest standards they can, in a particularly wide range of subjects.

In November 2004 the Independent Schools' Inspectorate reported:
"At A level, pupils' overall performance has been consistently well above the national average for all maintained schools, for pass rates, higher grades and average points scored per subject.  On both the points score and higher grades measures, the school has in fact consistently performed slightly better than the averages for maintained selective schools, which therefore represents at least a good standard, perhaps very good, by this more demanding comparison."

"Comparison with national comparative information shows the school's performance in GCSE examinations over the last three years to have been well above the average for all maintained schools for subject points scores and proportions of grades A* and A.  The school averages are in fact close to the maintained selective schools' averages on both counts."
