On Tuesday 19th June 2007, John Ounsted, LP's longest serving headteacher, and a talented mathematician, opened the new Maths block; it is fitting that the new building is named The John Ounsted Building.
After watching the first lesson take place in the state of the art new classrooms, John Ounsted made a short speech and formally cut the ribbon. It was a great joy to the large assembled crowd of current pupils and staff, as well as former pupils and staff (including a number of "Vintage Old Leightonians" who left over 50 years ago), to be able to welcome John on this special occasion.
