Powerful performances by 60 pupils and staff, stunning visual effects and colourful costumes brought Dylan Thomas's masterpiece vividly to life at Leighton Park this week, in the school's theatre.
The poetic depiction of life in the little town of Llaregub with its rich characters enabled a large number of pupils and staff to take part: from Mr Pugh who dreams of poisoning his nagging wife to the lost loves of Polly Garter or the gossiping neighbours, the audience was moved from laughter to tears in equal measure.
Rarely performed by a full cast, the production beautifully captures the spirit of this unique and challenging work. The actors performed the rich, lyrical and often difficult language with sensitivity and great aplomb.
