A Day at Leighton Park
Leighton Park starts its day at breakfast time and runs right through till bed. Here is a breakdown of a typical day:
Breakfast
Breakfast is served in Oakview at 7.30am, and day boarders are welcome to join the community for this. Year 7 and 8 pupils have their breakfast in Fryer house.
Registration
Day and boarding pupils gather in their house for registration at 8.15am. This is followed on most days of the week by the morning meeting, Collect.
The teaching day
The teaching day, starting at 8.50am and ending at 4.15pm, comprises 55 minute long lessons, on a two week timetable. Please also see the curriculum pages for further details.
Mid-Morning Break
At Break (10.45 – 11.05) senior pupils return to their house to drop off or collect books, chat with friends and staff, or make themselves a drink and a snack in one of the house kitchens. Fryer pupils are provided with a snack and drink in Oakview.
Meals
Senior pupils eat all meals (breakfast, lunch and evening meal) in Oakview. Fryer pupils eat lunch in Oakview and breakfast and evening meals in Fryer. Lunch times are between 1.05 and 2.05pm; after their meal pupils return to their houses or take part in activities..
After school
At 4.30pm all pupils return to their house in order to sign-out before going home, or to change before taking part in one of the many after school activities, or to simply enjoy relaxing with friends in the safe environment of the house and the Park. Most students in Year 9 and above stay at school until 6pm or later.
Supervised prep
Supervised prep takes place in the houses each evening. Many day pupils choose to stay for this.
