Day Pupils

Day pupils are often known as ‘day boarders’, a reflection of their full integration into the life of Leighton Park’s residential community.

As part of a residential community, pupils’ interaction with staff is much broader than the classroom. Staff have the time and opportunity to understand each pupil. This is invaluable in helping pupils to develop fully, strengthening their self-esteem in the knowledge that they are valued for themselves.

Day pupils and their families can make the most of the opportunities and flexibility provided by a 24/7, residential setting, including:

  • Arrival and departure times to suit individual families: pupils may arrive between 7.30am and 8.20am; Year 7 and 8 pupils can leave between 4.20pm and 7.30pm; Year 9 and above may leave between 6.00pm and 9.00pm.

  • All meals are included in the fees: breakfast, lunch and an evening meal; the menus are examples of a typical week.

  • Prep, supervised by teaching staff, can be completed at school;

  • Pupils can take part in the many activities on offer at the end of the formal day, or return to the house to relax with friends;

  • Occasional or regular overnight stays can generally be arranged (flexi-boarding);

  • Short term moves to either weekly or full boarding may also be possible;

  • 24 hour medical care is available through the Health Centre, and each house has a resident matron;

  • Pastoral and senior staff can always be contacted to discuss anything to do with a pupil’s progress or welfare.
