Field House

Built in 1964, Field House is now home to 92 students.

When it was built the house was very much out in the open on the Park, it literally overlooked the fields - hence its name.

There have been a number of refurbishments going on in Field in the last couple of years.  In September 2008 a new extension was opened to offer more room in the house for girls’ changing and showering.  The new block also contained a new study room.

Throughout 2010 a number of 6th form study bedrooms have been upgraded to offer excellent accommodation for our senior students.  The conversion of the top floor corridor for girls’ boarding also saw improvements in the bathroom facilities in that area.

With the introduction of girls boarding in the Sixth form, Field is now a fully co-educational house.

The house is headed up by Mark Simmons, the Housemaster.

House Successes

In the last ten years, Field House has won the Richard Coleman Shield, the main house trophy which incorporates all sports events, no less than nine times.

Whilst the present house champions are from the other side of the Park, Field House is currently overall champion in rugby, football, basketball, cross-country, road relay and tennis.

With its fine sporting tradition the house has always entered the House Music competition to enjoy the event.  However, having never won this trophy before, Field did finish first in 2005 and won the title for a second time in 2008.

House Events

  • Christmas Fancy Dress Dinner - followed by Ten-pin Bowling in Bracknell (Fancy dress is compulsory for both functions!)
  • House Table Football and Table Tennis competitions in aid of charity.  These take place in the spring term.
  • Barbecue and Games evening - in the summer term

House Charities

Many students in the house have been raising money for the school’s two trips to Africa in October.  Groups are travelling to Uganda and Malawi to link up with schools and communities to help with work projects set up by local charities.  The work in schools will be assisting with building classrooms; painting murals on walls; equipping a library with books and shelving along with sports coaching and sports facilities work.

The Field House students have been involved with group car washing, sponsored cycle rides and other minor projects to raise the money to pay for equipment and materials in Africa.  We anticipate adding to this information in the second half of term.
