Reckitt House

Reckitt House

Reckitt is the biggest of the four senior houses with pupils from all different backgrounds.  Julian Berrow joined Reckitt in September 2010 as Housemaster,  Ann Line continues as Deputy Housemistress.

This year’s joint heads of house are Annabel Smith and Gregor Gericke and the joint deputy heads are Kaz Stawarz and Simon May. House prefects organise the house competitions and events throughout the year such as: House Music, House Christmas Dinner and House Fashion to name a few! At all the Reckitt house spirit is amazing!

Boarding

Reckitt boarding is one of the largest communities in the school encompassing a multitude of different cultures from Japanese and Bruneian to French and German. The majority of boarders are full time who live permanently in the school and take part in many of the activities on offer to them which are run throughout the week and weekend. Activities at the weekend include a wide range of things such as go-karting, trips to London, sailing and also some time for relaxing after a hard week at school. Overall Reckitt provides a secure yet fun environment for pupils to live during the school term, a home from home.

House Sport Competitions

The Reckitt senior girls are currently both hockey and netball champions. We have strong teams each year and with lots of Reckitt senior girls playing for the U18s we hope this success will continue. Even if you’re not part of a school team you are encouraged to take part in some way to make it a full house event.

Similarly the success continues with junior and senior boy’s house tennis, being won by Ross Batten (Year 10) and Charlie Lawrance (Upper Sixth) in 2010.

Everyone in the house, whether they are in the team, the house photographer or on the sideline cheering, gets involved to make these competitions such fun.

House Music

Most students at Leighton Park would agree that House Music is the biggest and best competition in the school year, Reckitt won the competition last year. There are four different categories to take part  in: soloist, composition, small group and big group. The big group involves a band and as many members of the house as possible dancing. Last year Reckitt danced to “Superfreek” and painted their faces. The whole evening is full of excellent musical talent and outstanding house spirit.
