Tutors
Tutors
Each pupil is a member of one of our five houses and has a tutor based in their house. Tutors take responsibility for maintaining an overview of their tutees’ academic, extra-curricular and pastoral life at school.

Tutor groups are small (averaging around twelve) giving pupils the opportunity to develop an individual relationship with their tutor. Although it is therefore to their tutor that most pupils will turn to discuss any concerns, pupils often speak to any member of staff on matters that affect them;

Formal tutor periods take place once a week but, as tutors are house-based, individual tutoring also takes place at lunchtime and after school;

Tutors liaise closely with academic staff and are able to track tutees’ progress subject by subject;

Each house tutor team is headed by a Housemaster and Deputy.

Pupils often retain the same tutor through the major stages of education, eg the GCSE or A level years.
