Misconceptions
What do people sometimes get wrong about Leighton Park?
There can be a perception that LP is not academic: I admit, I was a little concerned about this at first. However, I am quite satisfied that my daughter will achieve grades no worse than she would have obtained elsewhere. Moreover, at LP, she will have developed a deeper sense of who she is, and of her own and others' self-worth.
A parent (Year 8)
Other people may feel as though there is no respect at LP and that no one works because of the first name terms. This is wrong. There is respect and people do work hard. Things are expected of you, but they are reachable goals and the pupils aren't pressured too much but still achieve.
A pupil (Year 10)
They sometimes feel there is a lack of discipline because of the first name terms: there is not! Every single person at LP will assure you that this school works coherently.
A pupil (Year 10)
They think that because everyone associates on a first-name basis there is a lack of discipline and respect. I don't feel this is true.
A Sixth Form student
It's true that we have silences the longest being about half an hour. For the first few months it is boring and tedious, but you soon get over this and use the time to think things over that you would otherwise push out of the way to be dealt with later.
