Curriculum
Many of the values that derive from the educational ethos created by Quakers have, over the years, become widely accepted as good educational practice. Every good school should now, for example, affirm the worth of each individual, and aspire to meet the needs of each pupil.
As a result, Leighton Park has always been able to look to the future, and to develop further educational ideas that will benefit the next generation of young people. Quakers have a belief in the immense potential of each individual, and know that a vital purpose of education is to foster in everyone a belief in themselves.
-
We aim to achieve breadth through the intellectual, aesthetic and skill-based curriculum.
-
Each individual’s needs are recognised and valued: academic and intellectual thought plays an equal part alongside creativity and imagination.
-
Learning is a lifelong experience and is a part of living rather than a preparation for it.
-
Learning develops most creatively when relationships are based on mutual respect.
-
We believe that we have a responsibility to guide pupils to voice their own opinions while being receptive to other points of view.
