Leighton Park is much more than a 9am-4pm school: the whole community, day and boarding, has a wealth of opportunities to develop wide ranging interests and skills long after the formal school day has finished.

At the end of each day or at lunchtimes, pupils can choose from a host of activities, from adventure training to Amnesty International, chess to computer club, chemistry to music technology - there really is something to appeal to everyone. Fryer pupils (Years 7 and 8) are encouraged to take part in three activities a week, and senior pupils, a minimum of two. Although parents sometimes comment that this makes for a long day, it is our experience that day pupils want to stay. In fact, the challenge can be to get them to leave!

In addition, there are regular trips to theatres, art galleries, museums; a range of Saturday activities; a full programme of inter-house competitions; and overseas visits, which, in recent years, have included music tours in the Czech Republic and USA, trekking in the Himalayas, skiing in the USA and Canada, and hockey and rugby tours to South Africa.

Boarders have an additional programme of activities at weekends. Cinema trips and bowling are always popular, but there are regular other trips, such as to theme parks, shows or London.
