Cadbury House Completes Marathon Challenge to Support PACT Charity

Throughout May, Cadbury House demonstrated true community spirit by having each member complete a marathon to raise money for Parents and Children Together (PACT). Each student and many staff members aimed to complete the 26.2 miles through running, swimming, cycling, walking, and hiking, with the goal of raising £250.

PACT is an adoption charity and family support provider that helps hundreds of families each year through exceptional adoption and support services, as well as community projects across London and the south of England. They offer continued support through therapeutic services, empower women facing multiple disadvantages, and aid children recovering from domestic abuse. Leighton Park’s Quaker values shine through in community service, supporting those in need, taking action, and promoting equality for all.

On Wednesday, May 8th, Cadbury House joined together for a group mile walk around the park, carrying Cadbury banners and charity posters to raise awareness within the school community. Students Martha and Felicity shared their experiences: “My brother and I have been cycling with our dad. We’ve completed 20 miles and have 6 to go!” “I’m really enjoying it; I count my school steps on my phone as well as biking and walking.”

Head of House, Zoe Macpherson commented: “As soon as the challenge was presented to the House I knew this would be a great opportunity to be involved and track my May Marathon on Strava to ensure I could show my support for the Charity PACT. It has been an exciting challenge, I’m proud of Cadbury House for showing their support through completing a whole House mile walk”. PE Graduate, Danny Clark added, “The PACT May Marathon challenge is in aid of a great cause which has motivated me to train harder, for my upcoming triathlon”.

As May draws to a close, the full £250 target has been raised through kind donations of parents, guardians, friends and more! The School and Zoe express our deepest gratitude to those who were able to contribute.
