Easter Reads for Year 7

Whilst we haven’t been able to physically see our new Patron of Reading, Steve Cole, for quite some time, students are not missing out on any of the action!

Throughout the week, the Library Team and English Department have been delivering each Year 7 student a copy of either World Burn Down or Young Bond: Shoot to Kill, depending on their preference. As we approach the end of the Spring Term, students are looking forward to diving into their books over the Easter holidays.

Steve, who has provided entertaining workshops to our Fryers, previously to taking up his post, has been interacting with Year 7 in various ways since September. From judging the Summer Challenge to virtual James Bond talks, where he spoke about his inspiration in writing the series, showed the students a whole host of weird and wonderful spy gadgets, and even performed his own Bond theme!

Grace Ritchie, Librarian commented “Steve’s first months as our Patron of Reading have certainly been unusual. We’re looking forward to him visiting when appropriate so that Fryer can finally meet him in person. Older students can’t wait to have him back!”
