Year 7 and 8 (Fryer House) Newcomers' Events

The Fryer Orientation Day on Tuesday 18th June provides a helpful and reassuring introduction to life at Leighton Park in advance of the Autumn term. Students will meet some of their new classmates, spend time in Fryer House and get to know the Tutor team. All new students are expected to attend.

Parents and Guardians are most welcome to join us at 3.30pm in the Upper Foyer of the Michael Malnick Centre for refreshments and to meet your child. There will be a brief talk in Main Hall to end the day.

The PSC Nearly New Shop will also open from 4.00pm.

RSVP via the Admissions Portal: https://bit.ly/LPAdmissions

Everyone is welcome to join us for Music for a Summer’s Evening which is a lovely informal al fresco event on Grove Field. It is enjoyed annually by the Leighton Park community who will gather from 4.00pm to 8.30pm on the Park to celebrate the musical talents of our wonderful students and relax with friends over food.

You are welcome to bring a picnic and may wish to bring picnic chairs and rugs or blankets if the weather is cooler.

There is no requirement for you to stay for the whole of the evening, please do come along for as much of the event as you wish.

There is no need to RSVP – we look forward to seeing you there.

New boarders are welcome to arrive at Leighton Park from 4.00pm.

Early arrivals are unable to be accommodated due to staff availability.

Students should go directly to Fryer House where they will be welcomed by the House Team and shown to their rooms.

There will be a welcome tea for students, parents and guardians in Oakview from 6.00pm.

Should you have any questions, please do contact Helen Tatlock, Fryer Housemistress – helentatlock@leightonpark.com

Students in Year 7 and 8’s first day at Leighton Park School will be Newcomers’ Day on Wednesday 4th September. Students should arrive at 8.45am at Fryer House, via the Pepper Lane entrance, in Collect Dress and bring their school bags and sports kit.

During Newcomers’ Day, students will meet their tutors, be issued with their IT device, be given an induction to our online resources, explore the Park with our Sixth Form prefects and enjoy some fun activities with new friends across students and staff.

Parents and guardians are welcome to join us in the Michael Malnick Centre at 2.45pm where they will hear a short talk from Becky Edwards, Director of Years 7 and 8.

Please note that on Newcomers’ Day there will be no breakfast or tea for day students and that the school bus services will not be available.

Our students benefit greatly from the School’s provision of an IT device (e.g. Chromebook or laptop) and access to our virtual learning environment (VLE) on Google Classroom. Our parents and guardians find our communications platform, My School Portal, a fantastic resource for keeping up with school related administration such as obtaining reports, booking parents’ evenings, reporting absence and viewing the school calendar. Teen Tips offers parents a range of free online parenting support.

If you would like to understand more about the IT your child will be using at Leighton Park, please join us via Teams on Wednesday 11th September. Details will be published in the eBulletin you will receive at the beginning of the academic year.
