Expert Choreographer Develops GCSE Dance Duets

Our Year 11 GCSE Dance students were very fortunate to work with Tara Choudrie of Choudrie Dance on Tuesday 24th January as they attended a workshop focussed on the development of their duets. The duet is a compulsory element of the GCSE course and can be choreographed following the examination of the set pieces. Our five dancers were keen to move forward with their dances and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to work with a professional of such calibre. Tara trained at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and has experiencing teaching and lecturing from primary school to university students, teaching and choreographing in the styles of contemporary, ballet and jazz. With her extensive experience to draw on Tara really challenged students with the movement material. Our students had the opportunity to respond to creative tasks where they explored the abstract idea of chasing, searching, losing and finding an object. Beth Butler, Dance teacher, commented “Students really enjoyed the freedom that Tara gave them in the creative tasks. Students worked really hard and I am looking forward to refining this piece in preparation for their exam.”
