House Music is the annual music competition between our four Houses, Bentsi-Enchill, Cadbury, Fox and Tubman and is one of the most popular on the Park. This year the categories included Junior and Senior soloists, Original Composition, Small Ensemble and Large Ensemble; providing plenty of opportunity to showcase the talents of each House.
The event kicked off with a spirited march to Main Hall, brimming with energy and House pride. The air was filled with chants, songs, the clatter of pots and pans, glow sticks, and the excitement of parading signs, whistles, face paint, and accessories in House colors.
Deputy head, Eddie Falshaw, compered the evening with his famous clipboard, keeping energy high and cheers loud. Eddie even treated us to a ‘We Will Rock You’ vocal performance with the help of students stamping and clapping!
The evening’s highlights were nothing short of spectacular. YaYa (Year 7) delivered a breathtaking Waltz in E Minor by Chopin scoring her the individual musician award from judges; original composition by Oscar (Lower Sixth) that included reverbing guitar and vocals and an impressive large ensemble from Bentsi-Enchill consisting of ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You’, ‘Waterloo’ and their very own Jackson 5 boyband!
The judges for the evening brought a range of expertise and experience to the panel alongside Head and head judge, Matthew Judd, who has impressive experience as a Grade 8 Piano player. Joining him were Kezia Tomsett, a talented Film Music Composer; Ewan Miller, a BBC Young Musician winner and expert Oboe player; Arash Shokoudi, a skilled Drummer, educator, Session Musician and Producer; and Adam West, a Radio Presenter, Musician, and Manager.
There were many stellar performances from our talented students whether singing, dancing or on instrumentals, but the overall House Music victory for 2025 was snatched by Bentsi-Enchill; congratulations!
