The spirit of House competition continues to prove strong as Cadbury House secured their first win on Thursday 9th February at House Swimming. A total of 95 students represented their Houses: Bentsi-Enchill, Cadbury, Fox and Tubman in Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle and Relays.
The result, as announced in Collect, saw Kosta and Luca in Year 11, proudly pick up the trophy on behalf of Cadbury. Remarkably, the cup itself was first presented in 1952 by none other than Mr and Mrs Cadbury!
Cadbury House Clerk, Zoe Macpherson, who is not shy of competitive spirit, enthused “A great first win for Cadbury! I am very proud of all the swimmers who took part and made up the Fryer, Junior and Senior teams for this event. It feels rather fated given the trophy’s origin!”
“It was fantastic to see so many students wanting to represent their House in the Swimming Gala.” commented Director of Sport, Simon Bradbury. “The races were all closely contested with the Junior competition having just three points between first and second, and the Senior competition having just one point separating first and second! Congratulations to all the students that represented their House and well done to Cadbury on winning the overall competition.”
Deputy Head, Eddie Falshaw, reported “Following the announcement of the House Swimming result, the current overall standings in the push to be the first House Champions 2023 are, Fox at 37 points, Cadbury and Tubman neck and neck with 32.5 and Bentsi-Enchill on 26 points. We have several sporting competitions to be finished off, so all could change in the next two weeks. It’s all to play for at the House Quiz next Thursday!”
