Richard Llewellyn (UK Education Manager, Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH), visited Leighton Park on Wednesday 15th March to officially present the certificate accrediting Leighton Park as a Steinberg Certified Training Centre.
Meeting Director of Music, Rosemary Scales, Richard explained, “The certificate is renewed annually with the understanding that the school will keep as up-to-date as possible with our software, ensuring we can fully endorse the school’s status as a Steinberg school of excellence. We are delighted that Leighton Park School have become a Steinberg Certified Training Centre. Rosemary Scales and her team in the Music Department do a fantastic job encouraging their extremely talented students to really enjoy making music. We are excited that both our Dorico and Cubase music software applications are now being used in the Music Department. As a Steinberg Certified Training Centre, we can offer students free software, as well as a higher level of free training. We hope this partnership will help the school’s students to achieve even greater outcomes in their musical journeys.”
Students at Leighton Park have access to a wide variety of instruments and instrumental lessons through the CAS programme in Year 7 and the peripatetic music programme delivered by 27 specialist teachers. Over half the pupils in the school learn at least one instrument, with everything from voice and piano to the accordion and euphonium on offer! The school is also a flagship Music Education Partnership School for industry leader’s Yamaha, being the only secondary school in Europe to be granted this recognition.
The opportunities for students in Music Technology, Music Production and creative audio for Film and TV production span curricular and co-curricular activities and are available to any interested pupils through our inclusive ‘music for all’ approach.
