The Art Department are ending the Summer Term with a SPLASH! From Wednesday 23rd June, people of the Park were invited to peruse a curated show of creative and curious talent. An annual affair, this year the Art and Textiles show, exhibits a range of artwork from GCSE, A Level and IB students.
“Given the year we’ve had, this is a welcome, colourful, celebratory end to see in the summer. With so many opportunities and events happening on the Park over the last week, we encourage everyone to pop along at some point and have a look.” remarked Head of Art, Mark Wood.
“There is work across a variety of disciplines and a host of industrious sketchbooks sharing the creative exploration and processes that bring about the larger work on display. A great chance for any budding artists or students considering taking up Art at GCSE, A Level or IB diploma.” he continued.
Art students enjoyed a private viewing of their work before the public opening of the display in the Michael Malnick Music and Media Centre foyer.
As always, the department were eager to know what captured the community’s attention, and so gallery goers were given the opportunity to show their appreciation for their three favourite works of art.
Impressed by the standard, Head, Matthew Judd encouraged colleagues to attend in his video blog, commenting, “It’s looking absolutely terrific; a real treat – don’t miss it!”
