Spring Term Sports Round-Up

This academic year, there have been over 100 football matches for boys and girls across all age groups with the majority played in the Spring Term. Our U14As have won 7 of their 9 fixtures and performed superbly well in the Crosfields ISA 6 a side completion. The U14Bs have won all but once and shown great improvement. The U15As have played 11 matches and only lost once, again showing real class in the ISA 6 a side at LVS. The B team too have lost just one match playing locally.

Our senior squads (Years 11 to Upper Sixth) have taken part in the regional Super 7 leagues, which we run alongside Salesian College. The 1st XI finished 3rd, whilst the 2nds lost in a thrilling final v Salesian 2-1, despite a stunning overhead kick from Louis in Year 11. The U13s Netball Team finished Top 4 in the South as part of the ISA Regionals, securing a place in the ISA National Finals.

On Tuesday 22nd March, LP history was made with our first ever mixed netball team fixture! The team took on Sherfield School and successfully took the lead early in the match to secure the win of 10-7!

Another first saw our girls’ competing in rugby team fixtures, with Year 7 and 8 taking on local schools in a contact rugby tournament. Two of the girls on the team are already playing rugby at county level. The team will continue to train together in the Summer Term Co-Curricular programme, and in the next academic year, new Director of Sport, Simon Bradley, will be introducing Girls’ Rugby into the PE curriculum alongside the traditional mix of Hockey, Netball, Football, Tennis, Cricket, Athletics and Swimming.

The U15 girls’ hockey team had a 90% win ratio throughout their season, culminating in becoming county trophy champions. This has never been achieved before by an LP hockey side. They also performed very well at the ISA tournament at the Olympic Park. The U18 boys’ hockey team had their first ever unbeaten season!
