Student Success at the Berkshire Schools Combined Events Championships
On Friday 5th May, Mia triumphed at the Berkshire Schools Combined Events Championships, securing first place for her amazing athleticism! Mia competed against 19 other students in the 75 metre hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800 metres.
Director of Sport, PE and Wellness, Simon Bradbury, enthused “A superb achievement! Mia was incredibly consistent throughout the day finishing no lower than sixth position in all five events. She now goes on to represent Berkshire at the regional event later this year.”
Mia came first in the long jump, second in the shot put and high jump, fifth in the 75 metre hurdles and sixth in 800 metres. She finished with a total of 2534 points with her nearest competitor a further 122 points behind.
“I really enjoy competing in pentathlons as it allows me to demonstrate my skills in both track and field events.” commented Mia. “The APP (Advance Performer Programme) provided by the school enables me to advance my strength and fitness for athletics and other sports. School has been very supportive by giving the opportunities to compete in these competitions.”
