Supreme Soloists’ Concert
On Wednesday 11th November our resourceful Music Department performed their first ever live streamed Soloists’ Concert. From Fryer to Sixth Form, students sung and performed a variety of classic to current compositions, on voice, string, woodwind and percussion instruments, including the harp and bassoon.
Met with praise from its virtual audience, one Year 10 parent exclaimed “What a joy it was to watch the online concert. The children were amazing, as always. Thank you to everyone involved in putting this together. There is no way it would be the success it was without the hard work and dedication from everyone. Thank you for bringing some normality into the lives of our children in these very strange times.”
Another audience member commented “Thank you for a really super concert this afternoon. As always, I feel humbled and amazed at the talent (and hard work) on display. I am determined to keep up my attendance record this year even if it is virtual!”
One of the Sixth Form performer’s parents added, “The online concert was so amazing! The online platform was a brilliant idea from you, it was really good to listen that many talented kids!”
Watching from afar one of our Old Leightonian’s parents emailed in, “God bless Rose for believing in everyone and giving them a chance. That’s why LP is so special.
Performer, Harriet in Year 10 commented, “I enjoyed this way of performing because it was a lot less stressful not having the audience there. I did watch it back and it was amazing.”
Rosemary Scales, Director of Music and Media, reflected, “I was really pleased with the concert and the students took to a ‘broadcast’ scenario like ducks to water!”
