Triwizard Tournament

Would you be brave enough to put your name into the Goblet of Fire? The School Library come Hogwarts common room, today gave students the chance to compete in the infamous Triwizard Tournament themselves.

Thursday 6th February marks Bloomsbury’s sixth annual Harry Potter Book Night, which invites wizards, witches and muggles to celebrate the magical novels of J.K. Rowling. With dragon eggs hidden in amongst the shelves to be found, characters trapped in the Black Lake ball pit in need of rescuing and the race on to complete the labyrinth, students were eager to get stuck into the challenges at hand.

Year 7 student Liam, who joined the celebrations thought that the events were great and hoped that they would be repeated next year. “I thought that the labyrinth challenge was particularly difficult”, he declared. In the Fiction Room, bunting, floating candles and Dobby the House Elf awaited Book Club, who met to discuss everything Harry Potter and play themed party games. Dominic was delighted to return Dobby’s sock in the twist on the classic ‘pin the tail’ game.

However, the enchantment did not stop there as activities continue into next week; recommended reading is available to brush up in time for future Harry Potter Quizzes. From the Daily Prophet to the Handbook of DIY Broomcare, all the wizarding literature you can imagine is currently stocked by the Library.

Librarian, Chris Routh, said “We try to organise something different every year to celebrate Harry Potter Book Night. The library staff enjoy getting creative and adding new props and decorations to our growing store. This year the three ‘Taskmaster-style’ challenges have already proved to be a great success with all ages of students. The first of three Book Club parties was great fun and the students loved playing returning the sock to Dobby game. Harry Potter is a firmly established part of popular culture, which means that everyone can enjoy participating. Once again Oakview provided a delicious Harry Potter themed lunch for the whole school community.”
