Finding Solutions with UKMT Senior Maths Challenge

The UK Maths Trust is an organisation who exist to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. One of the most successful ways in which they achieve this aim is by organising and running national mathematics competitions.

The first of these for the new academic year was underway on Tuesday 1st October as our students in Year 11 and above sat the first round of their Senior Maths Challenge. The paper is  90-minutes during which participants need to tackle 25 multiple choice questions. UKMT explain that “The problems on the Senior Maths Challenge are designed to make students think by providing stimulating problems for both beginners and experienced problem-solvers.”

Head of Maths at Leighton Park, Leni Samuel, commented: “Participating in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge offers students a great opportunity to sharpen their problem-solving skills. It encourages them to think creatively, apply mathematical concepts in unique ways, and develop confidence in solving challenging, non-routine problems—skills that are essential for success in higher education and STEM-related careers.”
