Year 8 set off for their end-of-year residential trip to the beautiful coast of Dorset on Wednesday, 26th June. Following a smooth coach journey to the campsite, everyone had time to settle in, eat, wash up their plates, apply sun cream, stay hydrated, and prepare for some exciting water-based games. The busy first day of fun led to sleepy children falling asleep straight away, ready for a full day of activities on the second day.
An early bedtime resulted in an early wake-up call, followed by lunch-making and breakfast. The day was packed with archery tag, running, climbing, and coasteering, with plenty of sun cream and hydration along the way. Archery tag turned quite competitive as students aimed to ‘tag’ each other out with rubber arrows, hiding behind and weaving between wooden barricades to avoid being tagged. Coasteering was a highlight, with students braving the cold British sea in wet suits, jumping into the waters from small cliff edges, and pairing up to climb the sea rocks.
Group activities pumped everyone’s adrenaline, with challenges such as building and climbing crate towers, trapeze jumping, and climbing Jacob’s ladders while hoisted with ropes! The final set of activities provided much fun for the students (and definitely the staff) as kayaking and paddle boarding wrapped up the trip, followed by more games in the woods and another delicious dinner.
What a fabulous trip! We hope all the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they finish their Fryer journey on a high.
