Why is creativity important?

Creativity is consistently identified as one of the most important skills in analyses of the skills that young people will need to be successful in our fast-changing world. It is the soft skills in which the real base is made for future readiness. Being creative is also, of course, a lot of fun!

Our creative curriculum

Our curriculum embraces creativity all the way through, with an emphasis on subjects like Music, Drama, Dance, Music Technology, Fillm Making, Design, Ar, Textiles and Fashion Design but also key off-curriculum projects and personal development programmes from our Creativity, Action and Service Programme that runs from Year 7 to Lower Sixth, to our Enquiry Week and Fryer Project Qualification.

Creative options in the co-curricular programme

Everything we teach in the classroom is expanded through our co-curricular hobby programme, with nearly 100 options on offer - enabling students to explore their interests, learn new skills and fully embrace their curiosity. Pick from options like Animation, Design & Build, Orchestra, LooP Dance Company, Drama, STEAM Club, Stressless Art, Super Sewers or a huge range exciting alternatives.

Expressive and Creative Arts at Leighton Park

Music, Sound & Moving Image

We’re the only school in Europe to be a Flagship Yamaha Music Education Partner. This means you get access to incredible instruments and recording software, plus the opportunity to take part in workshops with professional Yamaha musicians.
Drama & Dance

With two Drama Studios and a dedicated Dance Studio, shows and productions throughout the year, our LooP Dance Company and LAMDA, Trinity and National Association of Teachers of Dance opportunities available there are so many opportunities to join in and develop your skills.
Art & Design

You'll benefit from 11 dedicated creative studio spaces, including design studios, maker spaces, a ceramics workshop, print-making studio and dedicated studios for textiles design, painting, animation and photographic design. The only limitation is your imagination.
Leighton Park Drama Production
You’ll have the chance to take part in several exciting productions throughout the year, from plays and adaptations to full-scale musicals.
