Take Centre Stage

At Leighton Park School, Drama and Dance give you the confidence to express yourself, tell powerful stories and move with purpose.

Whether you’re performing under the lights, choreographing your own routine, or working behind the scenes, you’ll develop creativity, teamwork and self-belief. Our experienced teachers and well-equipped performance spaces give you the freedom to experiment, take risks and discover what you’re capable of.

You don’t have to choose Drama or Dance for GCSE or A Level to get involved. From school productions to co-curricular clubs, qualifications and showcases, there are plenty of opportunities to step forward, try something new and feel the buzz of live performance.

Dance

We have a thriving offering in dance with three specialist dance teachers. As well as academic qualifications at GCSE and BTEC, we have our own Dance Company, called LooP. We also offer National Association of Teachers of Dance qualifications in both street and contemporary dance styles, with our students frequently gaining recognition in regional and national competitions.
Our dance studio is the perfect environment to practise, complete with barres, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and an excellent sound system.

Enrichment opportunities are in abundance. There is a busy co-curricular dance programme offering a range of dance styles. Students experience workshops with visiting professional dance artists and companies such as Rambert. There are a range of trips to watch current dance work and students are encouraged to audition for vocational training. Some of our students access training via the CATS programme in Swindon. We have our annual dance week at the end of the year culminating in our showcase Let's Dance in June which celebrates all the work students have created.

Drama

If you’re an aspiring actor, come and tread the boards in our two professional-standard drama studios and 500-seat performance space.

You’ll have the chance to take part in several exciting productions throughout the year, from plays and adaptations to full-scale musicals.

And if you’d like to take formal qualifications, you can do these through Lamda or Trinity, or take GCSE or A Level Drama as part of your options.
