Welcome to Fryer House
On your first day in Year 7, you’ll be welcomed into Fryer House. This bright, cosy building is just for our lower school students and it will be your base for your first two years with us.
Your lessons will be in specialist labs and studios within our academic departments. Fryer House is the perfect place to relax with friends during lunchtime and after lessons. Play pool, table football and table tennis in the games room; express yourself in the music room - or let off some steam in the nearby orchard, tennis courts or football pitches. Or if you want a bit of peace, the quiet room has all you need for reading or drawing.
Fryer will also be your home from home if you board with us.
A Varied Curriculum
Our Year 7 curriculum has been designed to harness your innate inner drive and spark a deep desire to learn and grow.
Our dedicated teachers will stretch you academically, but more importantly they’ll help broaden your horizons. You’ll be encouraged to try new things, find your passion and harness your inner drive.
Alongside English, maths, science, technology and the humanities, you’ll study Spanish, French or Mandarin. You’ll have more curriculum time than in many other schools for creative subjects like Music, Design Technology, Drama and Art, as well as studying subjects not usually offered at your age - like Engineering, Dance and Music Tech. You'll also benefit from our Approaches to Learning programme as part of our Future Skills Programme.
Keen on sport? PE and two Games afternoons every week is the starting point with the option to add more sport through our co-curricular programme - with 30 sports on offer.

Pastoral Care
You’ll feel a sense of belonging from the moment you join us. Your tutor is instrumental in this.
With just 11 students per tutor group, they get to know you really well and can pick up on small details that may be missed in other schools. They regularly liaise with parents too.
We also have safeguarding teams, an on-site Health Centre with three nurses, and mental health support. Our levels of care have gained us the Wellbeing Award for Schools, accredited by the National Children's Bureau, and the Independent Schools Association (ISA) national award for Excellence in Pupil Personal Development.
