Amicus: Giving the Gift of Happiness

Our annual Toys and Teens Appeal for Reading Family Aid, organised by our Sixth Form charity group, Amicus, is going well but we still need more donations! If you could contribute new or ‘as new’ toys, games, books, jewellery, toiletries etc to our Christmas 2025 collection please bring them to Old School Reception before next Monday, 8th December. You can see the full list of gift suggestions here.

George (Upper Sixth) explained: “As a Quaker and private school it’s important to remember that as people in our positions, there are some families that don’t all have the toys they could want at Christmas time, or during any other holidays for that matter. Which is why I think it’s important that we remember how lucky we are, and help those people whenever we can.”

“It’s important that everyone receives happiness and love. The best thing for me about Christmas is waking up and finding presents and I think it’s nice for everyone to have some of that happiness.” added Jessie (Lower Sixth).

Laura Windisch, Secretary to Reading Family Aid and Manager of the Toys and Teens appeal commented: “We expect to support some 2,500 disadvantaged children in Reading with Christmas presents this year.  Of these, about half will be aged between 10 and 16 years old.  It would be so good if the always-generous Leighton Park School community could donate gifts that they themselves would like to receive, to put smiles on the faces of these older children, as we often don’t receive enough gifts for this age group.”
