On Wednesday 25th March, our Social Enterprise club flocked to Oakview for the annual Easter egg gift giving! Students could fill in a form and decide to gift a friend or member of staff as an end of term treat. Each egg was priced at £2.50, and over one hundred and fifty eggs we’re given out, so a huge well done to Social Enterprise!
Alongside other events from over the year, all proceeds are given to the clubs chosen charity, The Brett Foundation. It’s a local charity based in Maidenhead who help people who feel isolated, are in poverty or in need of help. They host weekly support sessions for the homeless, free coffee mornings, and affordable soft-play Monday’s for parents with young children.
One of the clubs members, Oscar (Lower Sixth), had to say: “This is the fourth year we’ve done this and behind the Christmas fair this is the busiest event for us. It’s a lot of logistics to buy, label and then make sure the eggs get to the right people. It’s for others to gift to their friends or teachers as a gift of kindness. It’s people sending easter eggs to others they appreciate. So it’s a great chance for others to gift and then also give to a great charity as well.”
Business Teacher and Lead of Social Enterprise, Sarah Owen commented: “I’ve got the most amazing group of students, they’re absolutely amazing! They are just so speedy and good at working together. We have done the most amazing number of events this term and as always, they really enjoy this one. It’s valuable in teaching them how to organise, manage and then calculate how much they’ve made. Overall, it’s great fun and helps a local charity!”
