Thursday 4th December was an absolute treat for all as Christmas jumper day and the annual House Bake Sale combined to create the perfect festive experience!
In additional to the joyful yuletide knitwear adorning those keen to embrace the seasonal spirit, there were also festive hats, garlands of tinsel and Christmas jewellery and socks.
The Houses had gone all out to deliver a scrumptious selection of cakes and biscuits offering an enticing array of options to tempt students and staff to part with their money for not one, but four worthy causes! Each House will donate the monies raised from their Christmas Bake Sale stands to their chosen charities which are:
Bentsi-Enchill – All Dogs Matter
Cadbury £300.20 – Parents and Children Together
Fox £223.60 – Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service
Tubman £306.50 – The Cowshed
Kate Wright, Lead for Philanthropic Giving with Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, explained: “Leighton Park have supported us for several years and we are very, very grateful for that. It helps us get the message out to the younger generation about what their support can do and their impact on the Children’s Hospice. It’s really important that students here understand that there are other children who are really poorly and that Alexander Devine exists and we are there to support them. We hope they will remember us when they move on to university or their first jobs, that they always remember Alexander Devine and perhaps continue to support us.”
Jake (Upper Sixth), Charity Lead for Fox House enthused: “I think raising money for Alexander Devine is really important and we want to help to support their mission of providing specialist hospice care and support for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as supporting their families.Every member of our House can make a donation with cakes, they can make them or buy them, so it’s really meaningful that everyone can contribute.”
