Our Assistant Head: Director of IB, Kees Luteijn, was delighted to lead our second International Baccalaureate Cultural Trip for 2025-26 to Windsor on Sunday 8th February. The trip was open to all current IBDP students in Lower Sixth and to any boarders in Year 11 interested in the IBDP.
The group visited the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world in Windsor and were able to learn about the rich history of the British monarchy. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, Windsor Castle has subsequently been the home of forty monarchs. Exploring the castle today offers visitors insights into their characters, their family lives and the ambitions of the country under their various rules.
The castle is extremely picturesque and is set in the equally attractive town of Windsor offering many photo opportunities and chances to shop. The group spent some time wandering the historic streets and soaking up the atmosphere of one of the country’s most aesthetic towns.
The afternoon concluded with a special treat: Afternoon Tea at The Ivy Royal Windsor described as “Beautifully presented in a three-tied stand and served with your choice of tea or coffee, The Ivy Afternoon Tea includes an assortment of freshly baked scones with rich clotted cream and strawberry preserve, a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, and dainty cakes and tarts, crafted with the finest ingredients.”
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), is renowned for its holistic approach, combining rigorous academic challenges with a strong emphasis on creativity, critical thinking and global awareness.
