Year 10s Living Adventurously with James Peach | News | Leighton Park | Private school in Berkshire

Our Year 10s were treated to an insight into living adventurously, a philosophy very much at the heart of Quakerism, by serial adventurer and brand guru, James Peach, on Thursday 30th April.

The evening was convened for ‘Into the Sixth’; an overview of the Leighton Park Sixth Form and the opportunities available across our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and A Levels. The Sixth Form also offers excellent UCAS preparation, careers support and the Oakleaf Diploma, a compulsory course teaching skills for adult life such as financial literacy, first aid and cookery.

James’ fascinating talk mesmerised his audience as he shared tales from his two and a half year long, round the world cycling tour and extensive survival experiences. Frequently being misled by maps, running out of water and even being held for 36 hours at gunpoint, James had some truly insightful tips to share on making the most of your life choices. He focussed on courage, resilience, keeping a perspective and trusting people around you, as a recipe for success. Accompanying each point with amusing anecdotes and images of his journey, not just around the planet but through the landscape of global marketing with brands such as Innocent, Uber, Vinted and Coco-Cola, he amused and entertained the gathering whilst leaving a memorable strategy for living adventurously.

Head of Year 10, Ross Paone, commented, ""James Peach brought to life what it means to live adventurously. He showed the importance of how personal adventure and challenge can enhance our lives and others. The blend of his impressive accomplishments in the marketing world using innovative techniques illustrated to our students how creativity and curiosity are intertwined with success."

The talk was followed by refreshments in the Grove Sixth Form Centre, a creativity zone with activities from Art, Drama, Music and DT, plus talks from Helen Taylor, Director of Sixth Form, and Kees Luteijn, Director of IBDP, supported by a student Q&A panel.
