On the evening of Friday 24th April, students from across Years 7-10 enjyoed a Nostalgic Movie Night!
Over 40 students came together in Peckover to watch the classic School of Rock (2003) with Jack Black, picked by our Quercus Theatre Co.
The event was in aid of raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH), as part of the upcoming Peter Pan production. Peter Pan’s creator, J.M Barrie, donated the rights to GOSH in 1929, so it was asked that no licensing fees be paid and instead raised funds from the production be donated to GOSH. In total, £390.20 was raised, so a huge congratulations to all who took part on such a great achievement!
Lauren Brandwood, Drama Teacher and Quercus Theatre Leader, enthused: “The event was wonderful! The students had a fantastic time, and it was a great opportunity for the whole community to come together to raise awareness for the children’s hospital. Events like this give students something to enjoy and look forward to, while also supporting a meaningful cause whilst having fun together in a positive and purposeful way.”
Charity work plays a big part here at Leighton Park, such as events like this. Students can give back to the community further through clubs like Social Enterprise and other events like our Christmas Fair, which is valuable hands-on experience.
