Our History and Values

Leighton Park School was founded in 1890 by the Quaker community, inspired by their vision of providing a balanced and inclusive education that nurtures academic excellence, personal integrity, and social responsibility.  Rooted in Quaker values, Leighton Park School has upheld its commitment to equality, social justice, and the development of the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

The School’s ethos draws on Quaker principles, which emphasize intellectual rigour, moral grounding, and a sense of community. These values have shaped Leighton Park into a place where character development is as important as academic achievement.

Leighton Park offers students a peaceful and inspiring environment for learning and growth. The Park features a blend of historic Victorian buildings and modern facilities, reflecting its commitment to tradition and innovation.

Leighton Park has continually evolved to meet the needs of its students. While Sixth Form girls were first admitted in 1975, the school became fully co-educational in 1993, reflecting its dedication to inclusivity and equality. Today, it provides an outstanding education for students aged 11 to 18, with a curriculum that emphasizes creative thinking, independent learning, and personal development alongside academic rigor.

Quaker heritage remains central to life at Leighton Park, with weekly Meetings for worship and a strong emphasis on peace, justice, and sustainability. The School integrates eco-conscious practices into its daily operations and curriculum, fostering a culture of global citizenship and environmental responsibility.

In addition to its academic strengths, Leighton Park is renowned for its vibrant Co-Curricular programmes. Over the years, the school has nurtured artists, musicians, athletes, and leaders who have excelled in their fields. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of interests, from music and drama to sports and community service, ensuring they leave as well-rounded individuals.

Leighton Park continues to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future. Proud of its heritage, the School prepares students not just for exams but for life, fostering responsibility, compassion, and a drive to make a positive impact on the world.
