"For the first time in my life, I’ve enjoyed learning things. Everything that you do including sport and other activities is supported and furthered."
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
If English is not a student’s first language then they will be enrolled on the EAL programme, to develop their confidence and academic English skills.
Group EAL lessons are included free of charge, while Individual lessons are charged at an hourly rate.
Students with weaker English can join one of our partner English summer programmes if they do not meet our requirements.
Further information
Your completed registration form should be accompanied by the registration fee of £100 for EU nationals or £175 for non-EU nationals together with a copy of the student’s birth certificate and passport. Please note, the registration fee is non-refundable.
If your first language is not English you will be asked to sit an EAL (English as an Additional Language) test and in addition you may be required to sit other subject area papers depending upon your previous educational background and subjects studied.
We understand that it may not be possible for students from overseas to sit the tests at Leighton Park School. Therefore, arrangements can be made via the Admissions Office for students to sit tests, under strict examination conditions, at their current school or if you are applying via an agent in their offices.
In these circumstances the required interview with a member of our senior academic team will be arranged and carried out using Skype.
For non-EU students*there is a supplement of £375 a term to contribute towards the additional costs, both direct and indirect, involved in accommodating overseas students at the school. These include costs such as assisting and supporting our international students to adapt to a UK school, to improve co-operation with their parents and for additional general administration.
Applicants will be classified as having UK or EEA status if the child has an UK or EU passport, or permanent leave to remain in the UK.
Proof of evidence will be required. For the avoidance of doubt EU, for the purposes of Leighton Park’s fee structure, includes all member states of the EU and EEA and Switzerland.
All applicants requiring Tier 4 sponsorship from Leighton Park to enter the UK for the purposes of education, and all who have Tier 1 or Tier 2 status as dependants, will be required to pay the non-EEA registration fee, the non-EEA acceptance fee and the non-EEA fees, without exception.
If you are offered a place at Leighton Park School and are living outside the European Union you may require a CAS to support your visa application to the UK Visa and Immigration to study in the UK. Should you need to discuss your CAS please contact our Registrar. You will not be able to commence your studies at Leighton Park without a valid visa.
If you are representing families that wish to apply to Leighton Park, please see our Agents’ page.
