Books2Africa

From Leighton Park to Canterbury to Africa, our van-load of Books2Africa donations recently began their journey to reach and inspire more young minds.

The 500kg haul of books has been built from the generosity of students, staff, parents, academic departments and the wider community, yet wouldn’t have come to fruition without the direction of The Junior Eco Club who have been organising the project.

As more and more books were donated, the Junior Eco Club decided to hold a games night for the greater good. Paying to play, Years 7 to 9 raised a healthy amount whilst enjoying each other’s company over some classic pastimes.

Eco Club member, Roisin in the Upper Sixth commented “I am very glad that we made some money to help send our books to Africa. The students had a great time playing games. It was great to be part of it!” One Year 9 student remarked, “This is the best thing we’ve ever done!”

In total, £590 was raised from the game’s night, a Library book sale and a portion of the funds from a school Mufti Day. This money will cover the cost of our shipment as well as support further Books2Africa projects.

“Great work and thank you so much for your books and fundraising efforts!” remarked Tonson Sango, Director of Operations at Books2Africa.

We look forward to sharing where our books are delivered in the near future!
