Celebrating D of E Success!

We were proud to celebrate the achievements of students who took on and completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme on Sunday 24th March.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a leading achievement award for 14 to 24 year olds which has inspired and transformed the lives of millions of young people. The Award allows young people to take part in a variety of different challenges which helps to strengthen not only their confidence but build life skills that prepare them for the future.

The afternoon started with a welcome from Matthew Judd, Head, followed by a presentation of both Bronze (2017/2018) and Silver (2018) level certificates. Ann Munday, D of E Coordinator, also presented Alex Fox, Head of Rugby, with an award for 5 years of service to the D of E. A brief talk by Matthew Leopold, a ex leightonian with a wealth of experience in brand marketing as well as being an ambulance volunteer, a non executive director, a charitable Trustee and a school Governor provided the address for the afternoon.

Both awards have sections on volunteering, physical skills and expeditions with different timescales depending on the level of award. Students at Leighton Park are able to complete many elements of the award through their co-curricular activities with expeditions completed at the weekend, after a fair amount of on site training!

We are proud of their successes and delighted so many of them were presented with their certificates on Sunday.
