Congratulations to Noa (Lower Sixth), who has reached number one on the Inside the Music Scene chart with her original song, Ideal Girl.
Written alongside Tom Williams, the song came to Noa late one night after she reflected on what she truly wanted to express through her music. She focused on the societal theme of “how women feel like they need to change themselves to fit a certain standard of society,” which ultimately inspired the title Ideal Girl.
Since joining Leighton Park in September, Noa has found the Music Department instrumental in developing not only her A Level studies but also her personal musical journey. She explains: “I think being here at Leighton Park, it’s really motivated me to go out of my comfort zone. For example, I’d never learned piano or music theory before, but I do it weekly now, and I feel like I’m gaining more musical knowledge, which is really helping me with my songwriting. I feel like all the teachers are really supportive, whatever level you are.”
Noa’s talent earned herself not only the number one spot in the charts, but an interview with Tara, the Head of ‘Inside the Music Chart’ who also hosts Open Mic shows that Noa has previously performed at to break onto the music scene.
Noa has fully immersed herself in LP life since joining, particularly within the Music Department, which is a finalist for Outstanding Music Department for the second year running. She takes every opportunity to practise and perform, through concerts and lunchtime spotlights, thriving in an environment that supports her passions and ambitions. Rose, Head of Music commented: “I am absolutely delighted that Noa’s hard work and dedication have been rewarded with a number 1! It is always so exciting to hear our students performing their own original material and we love watching our students find their voice and share it so confidently with others”.
