The Cricket Pavilion Appeal

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic and treasured vistas across the whole of the Leighton Park grounds is the view across the main cricket square to the 1934 cricket pavilion, an important, much treasured and beautiful building sat cradled in a magnificent woodland backdrop. Whilst the pavilion retains much of its building heritage, the passage of time has significantly reduced its usability and décor. Whilst serviceable, the building is showing its age and refurbishment will bring it up to modern standards and increase its longevity for future generations of male and female players. After consulting with the Old Leightonian Cricket Club, the School has committed to employ two dedicated tradespeople for the duration of the project. We are therefore seeking a contribution from Old Leightonians towards the materials costs to enable us to maximise the scope of the works. I am pleased to say that there have already been a number of generous donations from OLCC to get us started. The purpose of the current discussions is to seek contributions for at least a further £20k to support the project. All contributors will be acknowledged on plaque that will be displayed in the refurbished building.

Cricket Pavilion

We do hope you agree that this is an exciting, practical and achievable proposal to deliver a high quality functioning pavilion for current and future generations of cricketers and wider users, whilst preserving and repairing the unique fabric and history of the structure. To once again be proud to invite guests, friends and visiting sporting teams to share in the use of this fine building will be a wonderful gift we can leave for future generations of pupils and Old Leightonians. We hope that the Old Leightonian Community will fully support this project to make this a reality in 2021.

Transnational Giving Europe is a philanthropic scheme that allows donors in participating European countries to give to charities in the UK, including Leighton Park Trust, and receive any tax advantages available in their country of residence.

In order to make a tax-efficient gift, donors should contact the partnership organisation of their country of residence and express a wish to make their donation to the Leighton Park Trust. The partnership organisation will contact CAF (the partnership organisation in the UK), who will then contact Leighton Park. The donor makes the gift to his or her home-country partnership organisation which then provides the donor with a tax receipt and transfers the gift to the beneficiary organisation.

For a list of participating countries please go to the Transnational Giving Europe website and click on your country of residence.

If you would like help with this process, please contact Penny Wallington, Alumni Relations Manager at Leighton Park.
