The Dance programme at Leighton Park continues to go from strength to strength, with teachers Beth and Anya providing a quite exceptional range of opportunities for our students. These included organising the spectacular Let’s Dance showcase with 30 performances, running a National Association of Teachers of Dance examination day, a trip to the Mayflower in Southampton to see the Message in a Bottle production, workshops with professional dancer Will Hodson and the Swindon Dance Agency and a Drance Scholars’ workshop with professional freelance dancer Tara Choudrie.
In amongst all this activity Katie in Year 9 was placed in the top 5 for Ballet in the National Association of Teachers of Dance (NATD) London Area Theatrical Scholarship Heats on 2nd July. This success means that Katie continues through to the Grand Finals in Birmingham on 1st October. Katie’s top placing is all the more impressive given that she was during Duke of Edinburgh on 29-30th June and performing in our Music for a Summer’s Evening Concert on the 1st July.
Leighton Park is one of very few schools to offer Dance at both GCSE and A Level. Dance Scholarship are available, with 17th November the deadline for applying: https://www.leightonpark.com/scholarship/
