Fryer’s festivities kicked off on 18th November with our Fryer Christmas Tutor Challenge “with the aim for tutor groups to bond and be creative in creating something together, as well as get in the festive mood of course!” explains Becky Edwards, Director of Fryer.
Their first challenge was to create an original Christmas Jingle and they were scored on their creativity, group involvement, presentation and Christmas spirit. We had some close scoring with Jess’s tutor coming out on top for Round One, with Lauren and Reece’s groups earning an honourable mention.
Their second challenge was to build a Christmas Scene using cardboard donated from around the school and whatever they could find. They had their 30 minute tutor period to complete this and the results were extraordinary! The groups submitted a photo of their contribution which was all amazing. Danny’s tutor group came out on top here, winning Round Two with David, Alice and Jess’s group earning honourable mentions.
This took us into the third and final round with eight tutor groups within just 5 points of the top spot. The third round was down to the tutors to represent their tutor groups in a round of snowman grab which took place at the Fryer Christmas Party. Spirits were high and the competitive nature of the tutors shone through. The scoring system allowed for any tutor group to finish victorious so it was really all to play for! We played a round with the Year 7 tutors, a round with Year 8 tutors and then a final round with the top three from each. Lauren was victorious for Year 7 and Alice victorious for Year 8, gaining valuable points for their tutor groups. They were joined by James, Mark, Luke and Oliver for the finale which did not disappoint, and it was Alice who was named winner of the final round.
After all three rounds, the top tutor groups for the Christmas Tutor Challenge 2024 were as follows:
1st place – Alice
2nd place – Lauren
3rd place – Mark
Becky concludes “Well done to everyone for getting involved and to the tutors for being great sports and competing ‘live’ for the Fryers. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. We can’t wait to see what the Christmas Challenge 2025 brings!”
