High Praise for the Acorn Theatre Company
In March, the Acorn Theatre Company performed their abridged version of The Tempest by William Shakespeare, alongside nine other schools at the ISA Drama Competition.
With the results from the event now in, we are pleased to share that Els in Year 7 has been awarded ‘Best Individual Performance’ in the middle category, for her role as Miranda.
The judge gave high praise to the entire cast, reporting, “The ensemble provided us with a suitably dramatic start that had pace and energy. It was nicely choreographed providing us with a well-executed piece from the get-go. Els as Miranda gave a particularly strong performance that felt very real and natural. She was easy to watch and had clearly got under the skin of the character. Max as Prospero and India as Caliban were also very confident in their performances and delivered nicely rounded characterisation. Cecelia as Ariel brought us a lovely performance that was very watchable and in keeping with the character.”
“The whole cast did a very good job interpreting the Shakespearian language. The few forgotten lines really didn’t matter too much as the whole production and ensemble really did capture the mystical, magical nature of this Shakespeare play, with clearly defined characters. A thoroughly enjoyable piece.”
