House Cross Country 2022

The very first House competition of 2022-23 and the very first competition for the four new Houses, Tubman, Cadbury, Fox and Bensi-Enchill, took place on Friday 23rd September. The House Cross Country event saw students and staff racing around the Park with Fryers completing one lap of around 2km, Juniors (Years 9 and 10) completing two laps or 3.5km, and Seniors (Year 11 to Upper Sixth plus staff) challenged by a triple loop of 5.5km!

All the students took part for their House and were pleased to be out in their brightly coloured House shirts accompanied by two male and two female staff who were pre-nominated for each House.

The house with the least amount of points was slated to win with the student who finished first will scoring 1 point, 2nd place 2 points and so on.  Extra points were awarded for exceptionally fast times and any student not participating incurred 5 points for their House.
The tally is still being counted and will be announced on Friday 30th September in Collect. The individual winners were:

Fryers – George O (Bentsi-Enchill) and  Ana T-M (Tubman)
Juniors – Jacob S (Bentsi-Enchill) and  Zara K (Tubman)
Seniors – Francesco B (Bentsi-Enchill) and Charlotte C (Fox)

The Fryers were pleased to compete with an extra element of fun on their course with the Sixth Form CTEC students delivering a ‘Colour Run’ experience! The Fryers were treated to handfuls of colourful paint powder as part of the route, giving the impression that they had all run through a rainbow!

Director of Sport, Simon Bradbury, commented, “It was a lovely atmosphere for the first House event of the new House system. It was great to see students, staff, family members and in some cases dogs doing their best for their Houses. I would like to congratulate all that completed the event and a big thank you to the staff who marshalled, the Cambridge Technical Sports students for organising the Fryer event and the parents who came to support. A superb way to kick start the House competitions.”
