Learning Language in Montpellier

Our Year 10 French students enjoyed a trip to Montpellier in France from 15th to 21st June.

The group combined language lessons at LSF in the morning, with opportunities to experience French life (and the bonus of Fifa world cup group match football!) in the afternoons.

Their language skills were further developed by the opportunity to stay overnight with host families, honing their vocabulary and increasing their confidence in French speaking.

Their busy schedule included trips to the historical towns of Nimes and Orange, a French cookery course, learning the game of petanque, a trip to the beach and some retail opportunities at a shopping centre.

Reflecting on the week, Head of Boarding, Myles Nash, commented: “It was an outstanding week of language immersion for a group of our Year 10 students. We have enjoyed great hospitality from our host families as well as some excellent teaching during lessons. To have the opportunity of spending an extended period of time learning a foreign language is so important to the development and improvement of skills as students move towards their GCSE examinations next year. Montepellier and LSF welcomed us warmly and we look forward to returning again soon.”
