After taking 13 students to the ISA Regional Swimming Finals, three LP students succeeded to the ISA National Swimming Finals, representing London West at the Olympic Park, London Aquatics Centre.
Kaspar (Year 7), Theo (Year 9) and Kian (Year 11) lapped up an impressive seven medals between them, competing in solo races and relays where their talents were combined with other schools also representing the same region.
Congratulations to Kaspar for winning a silver medal in the Year 7 Boys’ Medley Relay and a bronze in the Year 7 Boys’ 200m Freestyle Relay; to Theo for earning a bronze in the Year 9 and 10 Boys’ Medley Relay and a silver in the Year 9 and 10 Boys’ 200m Freestyle Relay; and to Kian for securing a gold in the Year 11 to 13 Boys’ Medley Relay, a silver in the Year 11 to 13 Boys’ 100m Freestyle, and another silver in the Year 11 to 13 Boys’ 200m Freestyle Relay—all while competing against students two years his senior.
Trainee PE and Games teacher, Sophie Rowse, commented, “I am extremely proud of not only the students’ outcomes but their extraordinary efforts and dedication that led them to their results. To quickly adapt to teaming up with unfamiliar peers from other schools is truly commendable. To watch them soak up this experience, regardless of the medals won, was a pleasure”.
What a fantastic achievement and experience for our competing students! Leighton Park offers swimming in our 25 metre heated pool for all year groups as a part of PE and as an extra co-curricular activity.
