The Independent Schools Association (ISA) national netball tournament for U15 senior girls’ teams took place on the Park on Thursday 6th February. We were pleased to welcome players from twelve schools across the UK to compete for the honour of lifting the Cup, the Plate or the Bowl.
The tournament follows on from the U13s competition hosted at Leighton Park last week and once again attracted the sunshine to the event.
Organiser and Netball Coach, Alice Ledson, commented, “We host this competition every year and it’s gone really well. Everyone enjoyed it and we were super lucky with the weather. The last Cup game was between two local schools, super good. If you are thinking about getting involved or taking up netball I’d say “Do it!”. There are loads of local clubs: Eagles, Bugs, Woodley; I’d strongly suggest going along and have a go.”
Head of Netball, Zoe Macpherson added, “The girls have really progressed today. We’ve been working hard on resilience to fight back to go and get the ball. If we are down a few goals it doesn’t matter; we can fight back. I was so impressed. Every single one of them put in really hard work and we got through to the plate. I was really impressed with our shooting circle: Mia, Lara and Charlotte; the pressure is on in that shooting circle. Ruby for feeding in as Wing Attack and Tyler for playing Defence which she doesn’t normally do. Every single one of them worked their socks off today!”
